Our group logo: Sunflower Innovations

(2) Introduction to our group name:
Sunflower Innovations
Sunflower symbolizes cheer, happiness, positive, energetic, creativity, vitality, pleasure, provision, fascinate and extraordinary. Sunflower is a large flower that contains vast quantities of seeds, mounted on wide upward growing stalks that are a wonder of plant architecture. We wanted to be like a sunflower that we can always absorb the positive energy and blossom though the sunshine. Most importantly we believed that we can find a way to seek out the light with our best effort. In other words, sunflower can provide us optimism, fantasy and liveliness to come out from uncertainty because down to the road there will be many uncertainties ahead of us when managing the innovations.
Sunflower seeds are used to produce numerous things like cooking oil, medicine, paint, animal feed and biodiesel. We believed that we can like the sunflower seeds that we can spur off lot of innovative ideas/strategies and not afraid of failure. We are confidence to face challenges upon us and we hope that we can shine like the sunflower for our success.

(3) Group goals
Firstly, fail is the nature of Mother Nature. If we can overcome the fear of failure we believed that we can achieve our ultimate goals. It is similar of managing an innovation that it will go through lots of trial-and-error so it is important to learn through mistakes. We expect every obstacle will give us motivation to strive hard for the success.
Secondly, good interpersonal relationship makes our life colorful and diversifies; therefore, connection with the people becomes more and more important. So we hope the tactics and strategies we will learn in this course make us have a better connection and interaction with our family members, friends and colleagues.
Thirdly, we want to learn the right strategies and tactics to bring to our workplace as a competitive advantage of building innovation around our company. Since the world is being interconnected, transferring innovation to global markets is definitely a need. We want to learn the unique requirements of managing global innovation from the perspective of georaphic, physical, environmental and personal preference. We want to know "how" to find the preferences of the new markets.

(4) Weekly topic that excites us the most
Week 5 the sources of innovation is the most excites topic to us because without understanding of the sources of innovation how can we motivate to produce/manage new innovations? It is like a cause and effect concept that we want to know the most fundamental root of the innovation. We want to know rather culture, personal aspects or the change of technology that evolves the sources of innovation. We want to know how existing knowledge can transform to new innovations. Furthermore, we are curious how innovation network influence and where to find the new ideas that influence.

(5) Additional topics
      - Managing under uncertainty
      - Building breakthrough competences
      - Disruptive Innovation
      - Protecting Innovation
      - Managing Industrial R&D

(6) Our Myth - "You need more new ideas."

Describe our myth:
"You need more new ideas." It is important to have lots of new ideas just like the sunflower seeds that can spur off lots of nutrient value. We need lots of new ideas for innovation because only a few ideas can succeed through the innovation process and to the final stage. Collaboration is a central theme to innovation because most of mankind's great inventions and ideas were born from not just a single idea but from collaborative of ideas. Sometimes capturing collaborative value is necessary because the more ideas we could generate the better it is for the outcome. In-order to lookout for new ideas we must need to think differently, open-minded and find a way to spark the creativity from each other.

Debunk our myth:
Reality: "More is not always better."
More is not always better because it will diminish innovation and people will shift projects around that will make them less ambitious to focus. The ability to focus and concentrate can have greater potential to succeed. For instance, when you make numbers as your main focus you will become obsess with it. If you're aiming for the quantities it is impossible to determine when enough is enough. Sometime it is not good to have too many ideas because it will disrupt the decision of which ideas to pursue. Sometimes innovation isn't as difficult as you have thought, even a few decent ideas can make it work. Conversely, too many ideas can sometime make it worst and easy to lose track. Simple and concise can be the best after all. There is no value of adapting too many approaches unless money is not matter and time is not a concern, which it is importantly to focus at your best approach.
